About Us

South Jersey Driving School, Inc., is a full-service driving school based in Moorestown, NJ. Started in 1983 with one car, South Jersey Driving School celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2008. Owned and operated by MaryBeth and Tony Caracci, South Jersey Driving School can accommodate all of your driver education needs. Whether you’re a teenager or senior citizen, 16 or 80 years old, we can get you where you need to go!  Ask about our manual transmission or "stick shift" driving lessons and our defensive driving classroom course!

Tony Caracci, vice president, is a graduate of Riverside High School and Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. He worked as a schoolteacher for 13 years, teaching physical education and driver education, before starting South Jersey Driving School in 1983. Now in its 27th year, South Jersey Driving School has taught more than 75,000 students. Tony is vice president of the southern region of the Driving School Association of New Jersey (DSANJ). He is also a member of the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce, The Moorestown Business Association, The Delran Business Association and the Driving School Association of the Americas (DSAA). He is also a member of The Church of the Holy Name, Delran.  Tony is a proud member of the Basketball Club of South Jersey where he awards an annual basketball scholarship. He is member of the Riverisde High School and the South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame.  In his spare time, Tony enjoys golf, bike riding and landscaping.  Tony is married and the father of three daughters.


Mary Beth Browne Caracci, of Delran, is a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Delran; Burlington County College; and the University of Arizona, Tucson. She joined her husband in the driving school business in 1993. Mary Beth enjoys administering the vision and written tests for our 16-year-old students at our Moorestown office. She also takes care of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the growing business. She is a member of the Driving School Association of the Americas, the Driving School Association of New Jersey, the Delran Business Association, The Moorestown Business Association and the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce, where she serves as an Ambassador. She is also a member of the Church of the Holy Name in  Delran.  She and her husband, Tony, are the parents of three daughters: Patrice, 23, a recent graduate of Penn State University; Kelly, 21, a senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; and Nicole, 19, a sophmore at the University of Delaware.  
 

About Our Instructors:

Tom McGrail, of Sicklerville, is a former owner of a driving school and long-time friend of South Jersey Driving School. His love of people has kept him working as a part-time driving instructor for many years as he continues his full-time job as a mechanic with the Philadelphia Inquirer. Anyone who learns from Tom will benefit from his experience and friendly style. He is a down-to-earth person who enjoys working with teens. Tom is married to Debbie and they have a son and daughter, both in college. 

Mike Jamison, of Cinnaminson, works as a part time driving instructor for South Jersey Driving School. He is a full-time account representative for his family-owned business, Myles Transportation. He is a motorcycle enthusiast and rides a Harley in his spare time. Mike is the married father of three children: two sons and a daughter. Mike is dedicated to driver’s education and enjoys teaching our students how to drive.

Larry Vogelman, of Delanco, is a South Jersey Driving School agent, providing the Road Test service for our students. Energetic and friendly, Larry’s students benefit from the “tips” he provides on the trip to the test site. Larry is retired after a long career with Conrail, where he was a manager in the accounting department. He is a dedicated fan of Holy Cross High sports, where he volunteers his time with the football team. We are lucky to have Larry as part of OUR team! Larry is married with three grown children and five grandchildren, including two new twin grand daughters!!

Paul Collins, of Edgewater Park, works as a driving instructor part time while juggling a coaching career at Riverside High School. Coach Collins is the head boy’s basketball coach and assistant football coach at Riverside. He is retired from teaching and coaching boy’s basketball at Willingboro High School where he was the winningest coach in Burlington County during his time there. Paul, a graduate of Temple University, is married and has a grown daughter.

John Williams, of Delran, is a part-time member of our teaching staff while working full time as a Delran Township police officer.  He teaches the DDC-6 Defensive Driving Class for South Jersey Driving School.  John is married to Megan and has three young children. John's easy going personality makes him an often-requested driving instructor. We're happy to have John on our staff.

Mike Celano, of Maple Shade, is one of our full-time instructors.  He moved to Maple Shade from his home town of Middletown, NJ, where he was a driving instructor for seven years at Middletown Driving School.  Mike enjoys going to the gym, cycling and watching sports, especially football.  Mike and his new fiancee are planning a wedding in October 2010.

Scott McIntyre, of Delran, joined our staff last summer.  Scott teaches health and physicial education at Levitt Middle School in Willingboro.  He enjoys playing music, roller hockey and cycling in charity events.  Scott also enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons. As of September of '09,  Scott is back to his full time teaching job but will join us again next summer.

George Cecala, of Mt. Laurel, recently joined our staff as a driving instructor.  George has driving experience as the official driver for the president of the State Bar Association of New Jersey. He keeps busy in the evenings in that job driving throughout the state.  George enjoys teaching the students of South Jersey Driving School the proper and safe techniques to become a licensed driver.  Welcome George!

About our Office Staff:


Barbara Krier is the office manager at our Moorestown location. She recently obtained her driving school agent's license which authorizes her to transport students to their Driving Test.  Barbara’s friendly personality and professionalism are the perfect blend to assist the many customers who call our office. Whether you need information for yourself, or your son or daughter, Barbara will be happy to answer your questions about our program. She has been with South Jersey Driving School for more than seven years. Originally from Chester County, Pa., Barbara and her husband Ray, reside in Mt. Laurel. They have one son, Dan, and a new grandson, Dmitri.

Nicole Caracci, of Delran, works in the South Jersey Driving School office part-time.  Nicole is a sophmore studying broadcast journalism at The University of Delaware. She works in the driving school office during her breaks from school. She also works part-time at McCrossen’s Dockside Restaurant on the waterfront in Delran. We are proud to have Nicole as part of our team!
